Celebrating the Centennials of Bernard Herrmann & Nino Rota

Call for Papers & Films

 

Particular areas of interest include the following, though paper proposals dealing with all aspects and methodologies of film music scholarship will be considered:

– The film scores of Bernard Herrmann and/or Nino Rota

– Links between film music and theatre music

– Film score processes

– Research methods in film music

 

Proposals with brief abstracts (c. 150 words) for papers of 20 minutes’ duration should be sent by email to Ian Sapiro (i.p.sapiro@leeds.ac.uk) by Friday 6 May 2011.

 

We also welcome submissions from composers who wish to screen short films with original scores.

– Films should last no longer than 15 minutes

– Composers should prepare an introduction of no longer than 5 minutes to be presented before the screening

 

A copy of the film should be sent either in electronic format by email to Ian Sapiro (i.p.sapiro@leeds.ac.uk), or on DVD by post to Ian Sapiro, School of Music, University of Leeds, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 9JT, UK by Friday 6 May 2011. Proposals should also include a brief abstract (c. 150 words).
