DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama

20–21 January 2012

Call for Papers

The fifth annual Postgraduate Students’ Conference of the Society for Musicology in Ireland will take place at the Conservatory of Music and Drama in the Dublin Institute of Technology on 20–21 January 2012. The conference will offer graduate students an opportunity to present their work in a supportive, encouraging environment and will act as a stimulus for their future research.

The programme committee invites proposals for individual papers of twenty minutes duration relating to any area of musicological research, performance practice, pedagogy or compositional activity. Suggestions for themed sessions and lecture recitals are also welcome. Proposals should be in the form of an abstract of no more than 250 words, outlining the paper’s main objectives and research findings. Presenters must be fully paid-up members of SMI. Membership details are available at http://www.musicologyireland.com/index.php/membership/register

Proposals should be submitted via e-mail to the conference organiser, by email attachment to adrian.smith1@mydit.ie by Friday 11 November 2011. Notification of a decision on the submissions will be issued by mid-December. The conference programme and information on accommodation and registration will be posted on the SMI website shortly afterwards.
