One-day Conference:
Comparative Music Praxes
Saturday March 24th: 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

On Saturday March 24th Middlesex University will host its second one-day
conference on Comparative Music Praxes.  The aim of this conference is to consider
what can be learned from the comparative appraisal of musical practice across a
variety of different performance genres, embracing not only Western art music, but
jazz, popular music, and non-western styles. Specialists in particular fields will
present individual papers, with a round table in the afternoon to debate the
issues arising during the day. The full programme for the day is as follows:
