The Opera Libretto: State of Research and New Perspectives
Rome, March 2001
The Associazione Culturale Costellazione Musica, in collaboration with the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", the Music Division of the German Historical Institute, the ISMEZ, and the Italian Department of Culture in Rome, will hold the Conference "Il libretto d'opera: Stato delle ricerche e prospettive di studio" ("The Opera Libretto: State of Research and New Perspectives") 2-3 March 2001 in Rome, Italy. The conference is divided into three sessions: methodological issues, free papers, and a round table devoted to the establishment of an editorial committee and of editorial guidelines for the creation of a dictionary of librettists. Proposals for free papers on all aspects of libretto studies are welcome. The program committee particularly encourages papers dealing with methodological issues, with little-known private or public libretto collections, or with other primary source materials. Papers will be limited to 20 minutes, and may be in English or in Italian. An abstract of not more than 250 words should be sent by 1 February 2001 to Prof. Agostino Ziino, Chair of the program committee, at the e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicants will be notified of the committee's decisions by 7 February 2001.
