Re-Visioning Victorian Religion

Call for paper proposals for a session at the annual convention of the 
Northeast Modern Language Association (NEMLA).  The conference will be held 
in Hartford, Connecticut on March 30-31, 2001.

"Re-visioning Victorian Religion"


Proposals welcome on any subject concerning religion in 19th-century
British and colonial culture.  Papers may concern theology, spirituality,
monasticism, the Oxford Movement, Evangelicalism, Church/Chapel,
Roman/Anglo-Catholicism, religion and socialism, rural vs. urban religion,
religion in the colonies, missionary activity, religion and other
disciplines/arts, Judaism, non-Western religions, spiritualism, or similar
topics.

Particular interest in work engaging contemporary critical approaches,
including (but not limited to) gender, sexuality, queer theory;
postcolonial studies; cultural theory.
