KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Mark Franko, UC Santa Cruz

Proposals are invited on any aspect of performance and performativity in the
Medieval and Early Modern periods. Possible topics include, but are not limited
to: role playing; theater and metatheater; historically reconstructed performance;
gender performance; linguistic performance; representations of power and civility;
the relationship(s) between performance, media and/or the visual arts; the culture
of spectacle and the emerging European nations. Papers bridging periods,
geographical areas and/or disciplines are especially welcome.

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS: 15 October 2001.
