CALL FOR PAPERS:

Nazi Entertainment Cinema

(2002 GSA Convention, 3-6 Oct in San Diego)


Submissions invited for a panel that will explore aesthetic, historical,
and political dimensions of Nazi-era film comedies, musicals, period
dramas, and melodramas.  Contributions may focus on affirmative function
of Nazi film and/or on the possibilities of resistance within a
dictatorially organized film-cultural sphere.  Papers should analyze
previously ignored films or open new perspectives on well known works.  A
broad range of theoretical orientations and methodological approaches is
welcome.

Please submit:
1. Abstract (approximately 350 words).  Do not list name or affiliation on
   abstract.
2. Brief curriculum vitae (1-2 pages).
3. Separate document listing name, preferred contact information, and
   paper title.

Chosen slate of papers will be forwarded as a panel proposal to the German
Studies Association; panel subject to approval by GSA Session Coordinator.
