The American Handel Society will hold its 2003 conference at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, February 27 through March 2, 2003. The Society extends a call for papers on any topic relevant to the study of Handel and his music, especially those that take an interdisciplinary approach or that deal with problems in performance practice. The Program Committee is particularly interested in the following areas: "Handel, music and sexuality in the 18th century"; "Handel and his Contemporaries in Italy" (including opera in Venice and Florence); "Handel Tradition and Reception"; and "Handel's musical world and imperial power".
