International Colloquium Philippus de Monte
Antwerp, August 2003

CALL FOR PAPERS AND INFORMATION

International Colloquium
PHILIPPUS DE MONTE (1521-1603)
Antwerp (Belgium), 30-31 August 2003

Presentation

The year 2003 will mark the quatercentenary of the death of Philippus de Monte,
chapelmaster of the imperial court in Vienna and Prague. This anniversary forms
the ideal occasion for an international colloquium, which will be held in Antwerp
on 30 and 31 August 2003.

Although the life and works of de Monte himself will be the main focus of the
colloquium, they will be set in a wider context in order to accommodate such
topics as the music at the imperial Habsburg court during de Monte's tenure
(1568-1603), the contemporaries with whom he was in contact, his pupils, and
related themes provided they show a direct link with the figure of Philippus de
Monte.

Proposals for individual papers (25 min.) or for sessions are to be sent to the
address below before 1 April 2003. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words. English
will be the preferred language for the colloquium.

The proceedings will be published in the Yearbook of the Alamire Foundation, vol.
8 (to appear in 2005).
