Not Fade Away: Third Annual Buddy Holly Music Festival and Symposium Lubbock, Texas, August 28-31, 2003 CALL FOR PAPERS Not Fade Away: The Buddy Holly Symposium invites submissions for its third meeting. The Symposium explores the emergence of Texas popular music, with special attention to musical and cultural influences on early rock and roll musicians, exemplified by Buddy Holly. We invite paper and panel proposals on subjects including but not limited to: Texas Songwriters, especially Buddy Holly; Rockabilly Then and Now; Global Influence of Buddy Holly and Texas Rock; Border Radio; The Rock and Roll Guitar; Rock and Roll Films; The Generations of Texas Music; Regional and Ethnic Influences in Rock 'n' Roll: Country, Soul, Creole, Cajun, Tejano, etc. Submission Guidelines: The extended deadline for abstracts of proposed papers (20 minutes) or panels (90 minutes) is May 19, 2003. Proposals should include a brief description of the topic and contents of the presentation and note any audiovisual equipment required. Please include a 1-2 paragraph bio.
