1st Leeds Music Technology Education Conference
Friday 31st October - Saturday 1st November 2003
The Leeds Music Technology Education Conference has been established to
provide a forum for the promotion of best practice in music technology
learning and teaching in Further and Higher Education. This will be
accomplished through the dissemination of the latest research and
developments in the field and consideration of practical strategies for
teaching various skills and techniques. Music technology is broadly
defined as encompassing all aspects of the subject ranging from classical
electroacoustic composition to commercial music production. The conference
will be of particular relevance to lecturers and teachers of music
technology, researchers in music technology and music education, students
and industrial specialists.
The conference will consist of keynote sessions, papers, panel
discussions, concerts and installations and opportunities for students to
have their work evaluated.

Nic Collins Chair of the Sound Faculty School of the Art Institute of
Andy Arthurs Head of Music at Queensland University of Technology.
Paul White and Hugh Robjohns Editor and Technical Editor respectively of
Sound on Sound magazine.
The Programme will include:
* A Concert by Nic Collins on the Friday evening.
* Masterclasses for commercial and electroacoustic student work.
* Panel Discussions on use of the internet in music technology
education, music technology and gender, directions in music technology
education and careers.
* Papers on a variety of subjects including sampling, production,
spatial music technologies and issues involved when constructing music
* An optional early evening Conference Dinner at the Cactus Lounge,
the Mexican Restaurant opposite the College, prior to the concert by Nic
Collins on Friday evening.
