Association for Recorded Sound Collections, Thirty-Ninth Annual Conference

ARSC proudly announces its 39th annual conference, to be held in the "Live Music Capital of the World," Austin, Texas, March 30 - April 2, 2005. Hosted by the University of Texas at Austin, in collaboration with ARSC's Texas Chapter, this conference promises to be lively, enjoyable, and memorable -- one you won't want to miss! The Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin will be the conference site. The hotel, located downtown at 111 East Cesar Chavez Street, overlooks beautiful Town Lake, with more than 30 miles of hike and bike trails. ARSC is dedicated to the preservation and study of sound recordings -- in all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods. The upcoming conference will reflect this focus. Among the vast array of talks, topics will include: -- music producers and sellers in Austin -- music history and collections in Austin and Texas -- recording technology -- classical, folk, country and gospel music -- copyright issues -- digital preservation. The pre-conference workshop, "The Assessment, Preservation, and Access of Audio Collections in the Digital Age: An Archival Case Study," will take place March 30, 9:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Workshop registration is not included in the conference registration fee.
