Interdisciplinary Approaches to the Musical Stage

International Conference
28th-30th April 2006
University of Portsmouth

Organised by the School of Creative Arts, Film and Media in conjunction
with the Centre for Music Theatre, and hosting the Music Theatre Working
Group of the International Federation for Theatre Research. "Song, Stage
and Screen" brings together international delegates interested in the
relationship(s) between music and the stage† / screen. The conference
embraces a wide scope of enquiry and will include papers and practice as
research performances focussing on the Performative Voice, Ideology and
the Musical Stage, Integrity and Integration, Collaboration, Issues of†
Genre and Performance Practice. Colleagues are invited to attend the
conference which will also mark the announcement of the first
international journal in the field, Studies in Musical Theatre, to be
published by Intellect Press.†

There will be a complementary programme of optional events around the city
of Portsmouth,†organised in conjunction with the New Theatre Royal, Music
in the Round and Portsmouth Cathedral, who have offered special discounted
rates†for conference delegates.

Conference Registration Fee: £79.00 (£55.00 p/grads); this includes access
to all conference proceedings, refreshments and lunch. There is an
