Music and Musicians in Early Modern Ecclesiastical Institutions

International University of Andalusia, Baeza (Spain), 7-9 December 2006


The international conference aims both to present a critical assessment of
recent research in the field, and to stimulate new perspectives and
approaches with regard to the production and use of music in
ecclesiastical institutions in the early modern period. The conference
will be articulated around the following four themes:
*Music in ecclesiastical institutions throughout Europe: aims and
*Andalusia and the colonial empire: repertories and musicians
*Music and town: urban spaces, social networks and institutional
*Genre, function and style: continuity and change

Proposals of 300 words are invited for 15-minute conference papers on a
subject relating to any of the four themes. Papers should be delivered in
one of the three following languages: Spanish, English or Italian. The
deadline for proposals is 22 September 2006.
