Repeat Repeat
An International two-day conference

University of Chester, Chester, UK, 19th and 20th April 2007

The University of Chester Centre for Practice as Research in the Arts are
pleased to announce this major two-day conference exploring the concept of
repetition across the visual and performing arts. In the face of a well
theorised notion of difference, the emergence of repetition and its^
suggested persistence of sameness raises some fundamental questions about
subjectivity, embodiment and meaning in contemporary culture.

With four streams addressing repetition in relation to endurance,
technology, embodiment and difference this conference will address the
implications for contemporary culture in having repetition as a cultural
dominant.

Keynote speakers: Adrian Heathfield, Principal Research Fellow in
Performance and Live Art, Nottingham Trent University, Katy Deepwell,
founder and editor of the international feminist journal n.paradoxa and
Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, collaborative artists working with sound
and re-enactment.
