M C M 2007 --- CALL FOR PAPERS

The International Conference on "Mathematics and Computation in Music"
will be held in May 18 - 20, 2007 and is hosted by the State Institute of
Music Research Berlin, Tiergartenstra▀e 1, Germany. This conference is
the first meeting of the newly founded "Society for Mathematics and
Computation in Music" and is organized jointly by the society and the
State Institute of Music Research. For details visit the website

The program committee welcomes submissions of contributions to four
planned sections:
Section 1: Mathematical Modeling and Computation in Music - Theory as
Section 2: Instruments, Gestures, and Tones - Mathematical Bridges
between Different Levels of Musical Reality
Section 3: Form and Transformation - Mathematical Approaches to Music
Analysis and Composition
Section 4: Musical Structures and Processes - Mathematical Approaches
to Tone Systems, Scales, Rhythms, and other Music-Theoretical Domains

Authors are encouraged to submit their abstracts (approximately 400 words)
electronically via until November 18, 2006.
Acceptance notifications will be delivered by January 6.

Section 3 involves a "Workshop on Computational Music Analysis" where
participants analyze the same pieces, share sources, compare their results
and methods. Colleagues which are interested to participate in this
workshop and in the selection of pieces should contact Christina
