Beyond Grieg - Edvard Grieg and his Diverse Influences on Music of the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries

THE INTERNATIONAL GRIEG SOCIETY
is organizing an international research conference in Bergen, Norway from
May 30th to June 2nd 2007
During the Bergen International Festival

CALL FOR PAPERS

The conference aims to:

- bring together researchers, documentalists, creative artists, composers,
performers and educators to discuss research methods and results,
strategies, data collection, evaluation, best-practice strategies and
performance research

- present Master Classes on performance and interpretation of Grieg's
works

- encourage continuing co-operation in music research, documentation,
promotion and interpretation

- share international experience on these topics.

Subjects for papers may include research, methods and analysis, but also
other studies and projects relevant to the overall theme.

The conference will have room for both longer presentations and short ones
(15 minutes) presenting research projects, etc.

LANGUAGE:

The main conference language will be English. Abstracts may also be
submitted in French and German, although the full papers must be written
in English.

PROPOSAL DEADLINE:
October 1, 2006

PROPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Proposals for presentations should be in the form of 1 - 2 page summaries
of the content to be presented. The proposals should include the name,
contact information and institutional affiliation of the author.

The evaluating committee will inform applicants of the results by NOVEMBER
1, 2006.

Final versions - in English - of the full papers/presentations must be
submitted to the above-mentioned address by FEBRUARY 1, 2007.

There will be a few grants available for parts of the travel and
accommodation costs for students and young scholars. Please indicate in
your proposal if you intend to apply for a grant.
