Music in Australian Tertiary Institutions - Issues for the 21st Century
NACTMUS (National Council of Tertiary Music Schools)

Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, 16 Russell Street, South Bank, Brisbane, Australia, 29/06/2007 - 01/07/2007

This conference will focus on the people who represent the discipline of
music in our universities, and the drivers that inform their work:

- the students, their learning, and graduate outcomes within the context
  of a dynamic external environment
- the staff, the scholarship that informs their teaching, and their career
aspirations within the higher education sector
- the wider community of music practice in Australia, and how this relates
to the work of tertiary students and staff

These themes are the basis of the conference which will take the form of
interactive plenary sessions. Papers will be published and distributed
beforehand to ensure that the focus is on dialogue and debate rather than
a series of individual presentations.

Calls for papers: Proposals for scholarly papers related to the following
topic areas are invited:
1. The shape of the contemporary tertiary music curriculum in Australia
and its delivery
2. The musical culture of Australia and its relationship to tertiary
institutions
3. The human resource factors which impact on tertiary music in
Australia

NACTMUS invites submissions of a paper proposal in the form of an
abstract. Jointly written papers and proposals for panel presentations
are welcome. Proposals (300 word maximum) should be received via email
attachment in Word format - no .pdf files please.

Calls for papers deadline: 1 February 2007
