Wegge, "Ficino's View of Music" GENERAL INFORMATION Getting to Oxford, Mississippi * From the north and west: Take I-40 to Memphis, then I-55 south to Batesville. At Batesville exit (Hwy 6) go east some 20 miles. The first exit into Oxford from Hwy 6 is Jackson St. To get to the University go to Old Taylor Rd. exit and turn left, heading north. Go to the dead end, turn left onto University Ave., and right at the first stop sign. The Yerby Conference Center is the first building on the right. * From the northeast (Nashville, etc.): Take I-40 to Jackson, TN and go south on Rt. 45 to Rt.18. Rt.18 veers off to the right on the south side of the city. Stay on that highway, going through Bolivar, TN and into Mississippi, where it becomes Hwy 7. Stay on Hwy 7, going through Holly Springs to Oxford. Exit at University Ave. in Oxford and take it straight to the University. At the second stop sign on campus, turn right. The Yerby Conference Center is the first building on the right. * From the south: Take I-55 north to Batesville exit and follow the above directions (from the north and west) on Hwy 6 into Oxford, or take I-55 to Hwy 7 north. Follow Hwy 7 to the University Ave. exit and follow the directions above (from the northeast). * From the Memphis airport: If you are flying and not renting a car, we will try to have you picked up at the airport. A local limousine service (Magnolia Transit: 601-281-0222) makes about 3 airport runs a day and charges about $50 for a round trip fare. If you let us know your arrival and departure plans before March 7 (our spring vacation is March 10-14) we will do our best to meet you at the airport. For those renting a car, take I-240 to I-55 and follow the directions (from the north and west) above. MAP OF CAMPUS A map of campus may be obtained through the following URL: . REGISTRATION Registration will be held in the Yerby Conference Center on Friday, 21 March and Saturday, 22 March, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Come early, have some coffee or juice, and socialize a bit before the sessions begin. Conference fees are $5, plus either $15 for SCSMT Membership or $10 for SCSMT Student Membership. HOTEL RATES The following hotels are holding a few rooms at the rates listed below. Please mention the South Central Society for Music Theory when making a reservation. Make your reservations as early as possible, since some are only guaranteeing these rates until March 1. It's free and open to the public. We hope to see you there! DINE AND TOUR On Saturday we are planning a dutch treat lunch at one of our lovely restaurants located on the square. We will have our business meeting at the end of the lunch and then take a short tour of the city of Oxford on a double decker bus. The tour will include a visit to Faulkner's home, Rowan Oak, as well as other interesting sights of the city. Please plan to join us for a bit of relaxed socializing and sightseeing.
