	The Spring meeting of the New England Chapter of the AMS will be
held at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, at the Art Building
on Saturday, April 18, beginning at 10:00 am.

9:30-10:00 am--Coffee & Donuts 

Morning Session (10:00 am--12 noon) 

Peter Urquhart (Univ. of New Hampshire): "Contra 'mi contra fa': 
	Challenging the Harmonic Rule of 'musica ficta'" 

David Almond (Univ. of Connecticut): "Aspects of Unity in Brahms's Ein
	deutsches Requiem"

Carol K. Baron (SUNY-Stony Brook): "The Politics of Charles Ives and his
	Family: Findings in New Sources"

12 noon--Break for lunch, followed by Business Meeting (1:30--2:10 pm)

Afternoon Session (2:10--3:30 pm)

Kirsten Peterson (Univ. of Connecticut): "Structural Elements in
	Polystylistic Composition: A Formalistic Approach to Alfred Schnittke's
	Concerto Grosso No.3"

Michael Schiano (Hartt School of Music): "There's More than One Way to
	Spin a Cycle: Some Aspects of the Beatles' Musical Language"

3:30 pm--retire to the Atrium for a short concert by the Storrs Collegium
Musicum, dir. by Bruce Bellingham, "Music of Court and Chamber in France,
1500-1700."  Following the concert is a reception at the Bellingham house
in Willimantic (8 miles; directions TBA).


Take I-84 east or west to exit 68.
Go south on Route 195 past Route 32 and Route 44.
Main Campus is 1.5 miles south on Route 195.
Pass "Mirror Lake" to the 4th stoplight south of Route 44.
The South Entrance to the University has brick columns - Turn right.
Turn left onto Coventry Road, and immediately turn right into Fine Arts
parking lot.
The AMS-NE meeting will be held in the "Art Building", number 5 on the
Campus Map.
