FRINGES OF ROMANTICISM

University of Glasgow
One Day Conference
April 10, 1999

Proposals are invited for papers of 20 minutes on the theme of fringes of
Romanticism. This conference wishes to explore the genres, figures,
topics, and art forms outside the conventional confines of Romanticism and
Romantic studies. Sample topics could include Romantic drama, such as
Blake's Edward III; children's literature, such as Godwin's Fables; women
writers, such as Maria Edgeworth; or poets, composers or artists who are
not integrated into the canon. We also welcome topics that discuss the
debate surrounding the canon.

Abstracts of 300 words should be sent by 25 January 1999 to Michael Heyman
or Chantelle MacPhee, Department of English Literature, University of
Glasgow, Glasgow G12 8QQ, U.K. Email submissions are acceptable and can be
sent to 9706705h@student.gla.ac.uk or 9706718m@student.gla.ac.uk. There is
a fee of 15 for all conference participants.
