The Principles of Musical Arrangement: Theory and Practice Vilnius 22-24 April 1999Lithuanian Academy of Music and the Lithuanian Composers Union organise an international theoretical conference. The conference will be held in April 22-24, 1999 in Vilnius. The theme of the conference: "The principles of musical arrangement. Theory and practice". The projected problematic sub-themes: I. Theoretical expression of arrangement principles II. Historical dispersion of arrangement principles III. Compositional problems of today The purpose of the organisers of the conference - to give new impulses to the development of musicological thought, wich could do service to compositional practice and teaching process. The working languages of the conference will be English and German. The length of presentation - 30 min. The material of the conference will be published (the text of the presentation shuold be edited, computer - printed and recorded on a diskette). You are also requested to submit the text of the presentation and abstract in English and German. The title of the theme must be also formulated in both languages. You are requested to inform about your wish to participate in the conference in advance. We kindly ask you to send the title of your presentation and abstract not later than November 1, 1998. We shall provide additional information about the inclusion of your presentation into the agenda of the conference and other terms some time later. Organising Comittee Address: A.
