"Women in Popular Culture"

I am interested in assembling panel proposals on any aspect of women in
popular culture.  Proposals from all disciplines are welcome, as are
interdisciplinary approaches. The panel will be limited to three papers,
20 minutes each.  Topics might include (but are by no means limited to)
the following: 

	--Representations of female associates--wives, lovers, sisters,
	  daughters--of famous men, whether famous in their own right or not
	  (Hillary & Chelsea Clinton, Candace Gingrich, Linda McCartney, etc.)
	--Women in popular music
	--Women of color in popular culture
	--Media coverage of famous or notorious women
	--Representations of or attitudes toward older women and 		younger men
	--Fame and femininity

Receipt deadline for submission of proposals:  November 6.
