Fifth International Jean Sibelius Conference

 
 

THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL JEAN SIBELIUS CONFERENCE

IN OXFORD, ENGLAND IN 2010

 

The Fifth International Jean Sibelius Conference will be held at Worcester College, Oxford, England on 17th–20th September 2010, and hereby a formal call for papers is issued.

 

The main topics we propose for this conference are

1) Songs and Miniatures: the phenomenon of the miniature; evaluation of musical merit; æsthetics and nature of a miniature.

2) Analytical and Source Studies

3) Performance Studies

In addition, other topics are also possible.

 

We encourage any music scholar working on Sibelius studies in the world to attend the conference, either as a presenter delivering a paper (of 30 minutes, including time for questions) or as a passive participant. The deadline for registering for the symposium with a paper is 31st January 2010. An abstract (one page) and a short CV (half a page) should be sent to Andrew Barnett (e-mail: SibeliusConference@fireflyuk.net). Presenters will be notified  of the acceptance of their paper by the end of February 2010.


The conference fee has not yet been fixed, but will be a maximum of GBP. 475. This will include accommodation, lunch, one evening meal and entry to all sessions.
