‘Instrument and Music: The Play between Material and Message’

On May 25, 2011, the Orpheus Institute will host the 1st annual Orpheus doctoral Conference (ODC). This one-day event is a unique opportunity for an international group of participants to reflect on the complex web of interrelationships that exist between instrument and music. The ODC is part of a broader doctoral trajectory of generating and disseminating new knowledge in and through musical practices. The theme of this year’s conference is: ‘Instrument and Music: The Play between Material and Message’.
Keynote speaker: Walter van Hauwe
Practitioners from all music disciplines are invited to submit proposals for presentations of papers or lecture-recital.

The seminar takes place at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, Belgium on Wednesday May 25th, 2011 from 10am to 4pm.
- Deadline for proposals is Monday April 25, 2011
notification of acceptance will be made by Monday May 9, 2011
- Deadline to register as participant is Monday May 16, 2011.
