North American Conference on 19th-Century Music

The North American Conference on 19th-Century Music, scheduled for July 7-9 at the University of Richmond, will feature presentations and performances devoted to the life and works of Franz Liszt, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth; the life and works of Gustav Mahler, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of his death; and the achievements of Marie Pleyel, marking the 100th anniversary of her birth. Conference sessions will also explore the operatic experience in America and abroad, traveling composers and performers, musical genre and aesthetics, and many additional topics.
