Wagner and Adaptation: an International Symposium

The University of Toronto is delighted to host “Wagner and Adaptation: an International Symposium,” in conjunction with the Wagner bicentennial and the Canadian Opera Company’s presentation of Bill Viola and Peter Sellars’ acclaimed production of Tristan und Isolde. This interdisciplinary event is held in honour of esteemed colleague Linda Hutcheon, and takes place at the University of Toronto’s Jackman Humanities Institute and the Faculty of Music from Thursday, 31 January through Saturday, 2 February 2013.
Speakers include Carolyn Abbate, Marcia Citron, John Deathridge, Sander Gilman, Berthold Hoeckner, David Levin, Stephen McClatchie, Ryan Minor, Jean-Jacques Nattiez, Clemens Risi, Mary Ann Smart, and Michael P. Steinberg.
