Choreographing the Past

The European Association of Dance Historians is holding its annual conference at the School of Creative Arts, Queen’s University Belfast, 7-8 November 2015, on the theme “Choreographing the Past.” The programme will include papers considering the reconstruction of 17th-century Spanish plays; a 2006 reconstruction of an 18th-century Dresden ballet; the notation systems of Petipa and Stephanoff; the practice of social dance in Georgian Bath; dance as a museum artefact; Marie Sallé (roundtable); Léonide Massine; J.S. Bach; Jean-Philippe Rameau. Ricardo Barros will offer a workshop on Louis Pécour’s “Sarabande d’Issé,” and Millicent Hodson will present the keynote address.
