3rd AEMC Conference on Music, Communication and Performance

Montecassiano, Italy, 27-28 June 2020

The Associazione Europea di Musica e Comunicazione (AEMC) organizes the 3rd Academic Conference on “Music, Communication and Performance”. The conference promotes interdisciplinary research and original approaches in any field of musicology, communication studies, philosophy, literature, and in any field of artistic performance that involves music. You are invited to apply with papers or performance proposals on any topic, but a special focus of this third edition will center on the question: Is Classical Music Dead? Kramer’s Inquiry Revisited.

The abstract submission deadline is 30 April 2020. A maximum of 25 participants will be admitted.

AEMC Conference on Music, Communication and Performance 2nd Edition

29-30 June 2019

The “Associazione Europea di Musica e Comunicazione” organizes the 2nd International Academic Conference on “Music, Communication and Performance”. The conference promotes interdisciplinary research and original approaches in any field of musicology, communication studies, philosophy, literature, etc., and in any field of artistic performance that involve music. A special focus of the 2019 edition will be on J.S. Bach, but submissions are invited on any topic.

Abstract submission deadline is 30 April 2019. A maximum of 25 participants will be admitted.

Formats: 15-minute presentations (+5 minutes of discussion) and artistic performances (30 minutes max); poster presentations, round-tables, panels, and other forms may also be considered. The conference language is English.

The conference will be held on 29-30 June 2019 at the AEMC Headquarters in Montecassiano, Italy. Montecassiano features in the list of “Italy’s most beautiful villages”, and is just kilometers from some of the most pristine beaches of the Adriatic Sea, as well as from cultural sites such as the Loreto Basilica, or poet Giacomo Leopardi’s and tenor Beniamino Gigli’s birthplace.

The keynote speech will be given by Dr. Michael Maul (Intendant des Bachfestes and Senior Scholar of the Bach-Archiv Leipiz); the keynote performance will be given by M° Gianluca Luisi

The conference promotes interdisciplinary research and original approaches in any field of musicology, communication studies, philosophy, literature, etc., and in any field of artistic performance that involve music. NEWS: deadline for receiving the abstracts of papers and performances has been extended to May 31, 2018.

Formats: 15-minute presentations (+5 minutes of discussion) and artistic performances (30-45 minutes); poster presentations, round-tables, panels, and other forms may also be considered. The conference language is English.

The conference will be held on 23-24 June 2018, at the “Bruno Mezzena Academy of Music and Communication” in Montecassiano, Italy. Montecassiano features in the list of “Italy’s most beautiful villages”, and is just kilometers from some of the most pristine beaches of the Adriatic Sea, as well as from cultural sites such as poet Giacomo Leopardi’s birthplace.

The keynote speech will be given by Professor Monika Fink (University of Innsbruck); the keynote performance will be given by pianist and composer Martin Münch
