Call for papers


The ninth annual conference of the Society for Musicology in Ireland will be hosted by the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin from Friday 24 – Sunday 26 June 2011.


Proposals are invited from potential contributors in all areas of musicological study for individual papers, lecture recitals or round table sessions. Details of the requirements for submission are given below.


Proposals should be submitted by email to smi2011@riam.ie before Friday 17 December 2010.  Successful applicants will be notified in January 2011.

Requirements for proposals

All proposals require the following information to be clearly presented:


•Principal contact name and postal and email addresses for correspondence

•Type of contribution: individual paper [20mins]; lecture recital [40mins]; or round table session (including number of papers – maximum four) [60mins]

•Title of paper, lecture recital or round table session

•Short curriculum vitae for all proposed speakers (maximum 150 words per speaker)

•Technical requirements

  1. •Abstract (attached as a separate file)

Abstracts for individual papers and lecture recitals should be no longer than 250 words and include: i) the title; ii) author name(s) and affiliations; iii) email addresses for all participants.  Organisers of round table sessions should submit a brief description of the session (of no more than 150 words) and individual abstracts for all contributing papers.
